Brandon Mosley, Josh Harris and A.J. Greene invited to NFL Combine

An Auburn trio of Brandon Mosley, Josh Harris and A.J. Greene have been named to the final list for the NFL Combine, a list that includes a record 65 underclassmen. The NFL Combine, the annual week of testing for draft-eligible NFL players that can have a dramatic impact on a player’s draft stock, will be held Feb. 22-28 in Indianapolis.

Harris, a deep snapper whose bid to make the NFL has already been profiled in the Ledger-Enquirer, is scheduled to work out on Feb. 24. Both offensive linemen are scheduled to workout a day later on Feb. 25.

Tigers junior Barrett Trotter, who decided to forego his final year of eligibility at Auburn and plans to participate in the school’s Pro Day, was not one of the 65 underclassmen named.

National Football Scouting, the organization in charge of the Combine, released the final list Tuesday morning. Both Mosley and Harris, who each earned Senior Bowl invites, already had invitations, but Greene’s came as a bit of a surprise.

Mosley is rated as a fourth-round prospect at offensive tackle by most experts after two years spent starting at right tackle for Auburn. A former tight end, Mosley’s athleticism makes him intriguing to NFL teams. He was invited to the Senior Bowl, but he was forced to pull out at the last second due to illness.

Harris is the top-rated deep snapper in the draft, although he is unlikely to be drafted. Only four of the NFL’s 32 teams drafted their long snappers, and all of those four were drafted to possibly play another position, too. Within an hour after the draft, Harris should have a free-agent contract, and his potential for a long-term job is good if he catches on with the right team. Harris served as a captain for the South team in the Senior Bowl and spent the week interviewing with NFL teams.

Greene, rated a late-round prospect at best by most recruiting services, has a chance to up his stock at the NFL Combine. Greene was rated the No. 40 offensive tackle by CBSSports.com a couple of weeks ago, but the Combine invite gives him a chance to work out before Auburn’s pro day and interview with teams.
