Recruiting update: Maryland reportedly leads for Stefon Diggs, Alex Kozan still undecided

The craziness of national signing day has been over for more than a week.

But Auburn still has two more targets left for the class of 2012 in Our Lady of Good Counsel (Md.) receiver Stefon Diggs and Valor Christian (Colo.) offensive lineman Alex Kozan. Neither player has made a decision yet, although Diggs is expected to announce his decision on Friday.

The timing of that announcement has changed, though. Earlier in the week, Diggs was scheduled to announce at 10 p.m. ET on Comcast SportsNet, but a Comcast employee tweeted Thursday that Diggs had pulled out of that announcement. Now, the timing of his decision is unclear.

Diggs, the nation’s No. 2 wide receiver prospect, has narrowed his list down to four schools: Maryland, Ohio State, Auburn and Florida. Precious little information has been released about Diggs’ decision-making process, but he visited Maryland officially last week.

And now the Washington Post has reported that Diggs is poised to announce that he will accept a scholarship offer to play for Maryland, citing sources with knowledge of Diggs’s decision-making process.

Kozan, on the other hand, has not said much publicly since he pulled out his announcement on national signing day. He is still choosing among Auburn, Michigan and Iowa, and a timetable for Kozan’s decision has not been set.
