Jimmy Hutchinson, the nation’s top-ranked punter in the class of 2013, has verbally committed to Auburn, bringing the Tigers’ list of 2013 commits to three.
“Committed to Auburn University to play football! #WarEagle” Hutchinson tweeted Tuesday.
Two of the recruiting sites that cover Auburn — AuburnUndercover.com and AuburnSports.com — reported the news first.
Hutchinson, a 6-2, 175-pounder who punts and kicks for Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga., is rated as the No. 1 punter in the country by both Chris Sailer and Kohl’s Kicking Academy, two of the leading websites for ranking punters and kickers.
As a junior at Harrison, Hutchinson averaged 37.0 yards per punt on 43 kicks and buried 15 of his punts inside the 20-yard line.
Hutchinson becomes the third member of the 2013 class to commit to Auburn. Lawrenceville, Ga. linebacker Trey Johnson and Muscle Shoals, Ala. defensive lineman Dee Liner have already committed.
