Under normal circumstances, the blog saves its basketball info for game day, but after the injuries Auburn suffered against Florida, I thought it best to get a quick update on the Tigers’ injured players heading into the Arkansas game.
Gabriel, Auburn’s senior forward, is battling a bruised back and other injuries from a bad fall taken against the Gators. He did not practice Thursday, but Tigers coach Tony Barbee said he expects Gabriel to play.
“Did not practice today and still having some lingering effects from the spill,” Barbee said. “I anticipate he’ll be ready for Saturday. He’s working extrememely hard in rehab to make sure he’s back.”
Barbee also said Gabriel could have prevented the fall if he had made the correct decision and passed to Rob Chubb in a 2-on-1 decision.
Shaw graduate Chris Denson also missed practice Monday. Denson was injured at the end of the first half against Florida, but he returned to the game in the second half.
“Nothing serious,” Barbee said. “We held him out today just to be precautious with it.”
Forward Josh Langford, who is still recovering from concussion symptoms for a fall suffered against Arkansas the last time the two played, isn’t expected to return to the court Saturday.
