Auburn’s push to find the eventual successors to Cody Parkey and Steven Clark came up big again on Saturday night when the Tigers landed a commitment from Daniel Carlson, universally regarded as one of the top kickers in the country.

Carlson, a long, lanky kicker from Colorado, had been rumored to be leaning toward Auburn for days, and he made the decision official late Saturday night.

Carlson’s commitment gives Auburn two specialists in the 2013 class after Carlson joins Jimmy Hutchinson, the nation’s top-ranked punter. At Classical Academy in Pine Forest, Colo., Carlson reportedly has a big leg, and he helps the Tigers start preparing for life after Clark and Parkey, both juniors.
