Auburn punter Steven Clark back on the Ray Guy Award watch list

Not that this should come as any kind of shock, but Auburn junior Steven Clark was named to the Ray Guy Award watch list on Wednesday morning, a year after becoming the first Tigers punter to be a finalist for the award, annually given to the nation’s top punter.

Clark is coming off of a season in which he was named All-SEC First Team, earned Pro Football Weekly’s All-American honors and honorable mention All-American from Sports Illustrated.

A hang-time specialist, Clark averaged 40.8 yards on 72 punts, landed 33 inside the 20 and booted 13 punts of 50 yards or longer.

In addition, Clark’s punts were rarely returned, giving Auburn great field position, and his booming punts were fumbled four times by Florida, two of which Auburn recovered.
