Tigers in the NFL: Week 9 edition

Auburn entered the 2012 season with 28 alumni on National Football League rosters, the eighth-best total among college football programs. All following information courtesy Taylor Bryan, a tall man with Auburn media relations. -AB

Ronnie Brown, RB, San Diego Chargers: Totaled 73 yards on 11 touches as the Chargers defeated Kansas City 31-13 on Thursday Night Football. Brown’s 13 rushing yards during week 6 put him over 5,000 for his career. He has played in 99 games in his career with 49 touchdowns.

Takeo Spikes, LB, San Diego Chargers: Made five stops for the Chargers. Spikes has recorded 1,398 tackles in his 15 seasons in the NFL, the last two with San Diego.

Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers: Passed for 201 yards on 13-of-23 attempts and one touchdown while adding eight carries for 37 yards and a score in the Panthers’ 21-13 victory at Washington. Newton has thrown for 1,902 yards with six touchdowns and rushed for 347 yards with four scores in his second season after being drafted with the top overall pick in 2011. He has 45 total touchdowns in 24 career games.

Nick Fairley, DT, Detroit Lions: Season-best three tackles on Sunday in a 31-14 win over Jacksonville. The 13th overall pick in 2011, Fairley has played in 18 games with two starts in two seasons with the Lions.

Jerraud Powers, DB, Indianapolis Colts: Three tackles in a 23-20 win over Miami on Sunday. Powers has started all 42 games in his career and registered 210 tackles with six interceptions in four seasons.

Karlos Dansby, LB, Miami Dolphins: Recorded nine tackles (six solo) and a deflection in the Dolphins’ defeat. A nine-year veteran, Dansby has more than 800 stops in his career. He’s one of just four active NFL players with at least 30 sacks and 10 interceptions.

Sen’Derrick Marks, DT, Tennessee Titans: Recorded five tackles after starting at defensive tackle in Tennessee’s 51-20 loss to the Bears.  Marks has played in 44 games in his four-year career with 19 starts. He has totaled 77 tackles and 1.5 sacks during his tenure.

Ben Grubbs, OG, New Orleans Saints: Started for the eighth time in eight games in 2012 as the Saints dropped Philadelphia, 28-13 on Monday Night Football. Grubbs has played in 82 games in his six-year career with 78 starts. He has started in every game he has played since 2008.
