SEC West Tiebreaker Scenarios … but only if Alabama loses & re-opens the race to Atlanta

AUBURN, Ala. — Obligatory wild SEC West Tiebreaker scenarios, as far as who plays Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, are listed below. Obviously, the clearest and most likely outcome is Alabama defeating Auburn in the Iron Bowl, thus setting up a showdown with the Bulldogs at the Georgia Dome on Dec. 1.

But just in case …

First, this is the upcoming schedule as it relates to the SEC West standings and subsequent representative in the league championship game:

LSU (9-2, 5-2 SEC) at Arkansas, Friday 1:30 p.m. CT, CBS

Auburn at Alabama (10-1, 6-1), Saturday 2:30 p.m. CT, CBS

Missouri at Texas A&M (9-2, 5-2), Saturday 6 p.m. CT, ESPN/ESPN2

Alabama goes to Atlanta if: it beats Auburn OR Texas A&M loses to Missouri. (In that case, even if LSU defeated Arkansas, Crimson Tide would win head-to-head tiebraker over Tigers.)

Texas A&M goes to Atlanta if: it beats Missouri AND Alabama loses to Auburn AND LSU loses to Arkansas. (Aggies would win head-to-head tiebreaker over Crimson Tide.)

LSU goes to Atlanta if: it beats Arkansas AND Alabama loses to Auburn AND Texas A&M defeats Missouri. (This would set up a 3-way tie at 5-2. Since Bama/LSU/A&M went 1-1 against each other, the next tiebreaker is divisional record. LSU and A&M (5-1) would advance to the next 3-team tiebreaker over Alabama (4-2), thus pitting LSU and A&M in the 2-team tiebreaker. Tigers win head-to-head tiebreaker over Aggies.)

  1. Go Auburn Tigers, Arky and Texas A&M Aggies! Put UAT and LS-Who on the couch watching A&M and the DullDawgs play for the SEC title.
