Tigers in the NFL: Week 11 edition

While you’re stuffing yourself with stuffing … and turkey … and green bean casserole … and pumpkin pie … OH, the pumpkin pie … here’s how people from the only group actually working today (the NFL) performed last week. But first, today’s Turkey Day football schedule (all times CT):

Houston (-3) at Detroit ~ 11:30 a.m., CBS
Washington at Dallas (-3.5) ~ 3:15 p.m., FOX
New England (-6) at New York Jets ~ 7:20 p.m., NBC

Karlos Dansby, LB, Miami Dolphins: Seven tackles and one deflection in a 19-14 loss to Buffalo. A nine-year veteran, Dansby has more than 800 stops in his career. The Birmingham native has 76 tackles in 2012. He’s one of just four active NFL players with at least 30 sacks and 10 interceptions.

Nick Fairley, DT, Detroit Lions: Posted a career-best seven tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in a 24-20 loss to Green Bay on Sunday. It was the first career multiple-sack game for Fairley. The 13th overall pick in 2011, Fairley has played in 20 games with four starts in two seasons with the Lions. He has 22 tackles and 4.5 sacks in sophomore season.

King Dunlap, OT, Philadelphia Eagles: Made his sixth start overall, this week back at left tackle, in a 30-6 loss to the Redskins after starting at right tackle last week. He’s played in eight games this season with six starts after missing two games due to a hamstring injury. Dunlap has played in 46 games in four seasons with 13 starts.

Quentin Groves, LB, Arizona Cardinals: Six tackles (five solo) in a 23-19 loss by the Cardinals to Atlanta. Groves is in his first season in Arizona and fifth overall in the NFL. He has totaled 130 tackles in his career with 4.5 sacks and two interceptions.

Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers: Passed for 252 yards on 16-of-29 passes with one touchdown in an overtime loss to Tampa Bay. He also rushed for 40 yards on 11 carries. The touchdown pass was a 29-yard strike to Brandon LaFell. Newton has thrown for 2,395 yards with nine touchdowns and rushed for 394 yards with four scores in his second season after being drafted with the top overall pick in 2011. Newton has 48 total touchdowns in 26 career games.

Jay Ratliff, DT, Dallas Cowboys: Four tackles in 23-20 win over Cleveland after making his sixth start at defensive tackle. Ratliff is in his eighth season, all with Dallas. He has started 84 games with 228 tackles and 27.0 sacks.

Josh Bynes, LB, Baltimore Ravens: Had one tackle on Sunday night as the Ravens defeated Pittsburgh, 13-10. Bynes has played in four games and totaled three tackles in 2012. He has played in five games in his two-year career as a reserve linebacker with Baltimore.

Carlos Rogers, DB, San Francisco 49ers: Started at corner for the 49ers and recorded three tackles in a 32-7 win over Chicago. In his eighth season after being drafted No. 9 overall by Washington in 2005, Rogers has 35 tackles in 2012. He’s started all but three of the 92 games he played in since 2006 and was a 2011 Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection.

Jason Campbell, QB, Chicago Bears: Completed 14-of-22 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in his first start of the season in place of the injured Jay Cutler.  Campbell has played in five games in his sixth NFL season after being selected in the first round by Washington in 2005. He has passed for more than 14,000 yards in his career with 75 touchdowns.
