Road to nowhere: Auburn’s 2012 timeline

By Kevin Price

Sept. 1: The season begins with a loss in which Auburn can’t score or stop Clemson in the fourth quarter. It is a recurring theme throughout the season.

Sept. 22:  After an overtime win over Louisiana-Monroe the week before, the Tigers play LSU close before losing 12-10.

Oct. 27: After a close loss to Vanderbilt on the road, the Tigers come home and embarrassed in a 63-21 loss to Texas A&M. This is the last of five straight losses.

Nov. 10: Visiting Georgia crushes Auburn 38-0.

Nov. 17: Chizik’s last win, a 51-7 blowout of lowly Alabama A&M.

Nov. 24: Auburn loses Iron Bowl 49-0 to Alabama. It is the second most-lopsided Bama win in the long series. It is also the 10th straight SEC loss for the Tigers.

Nov. 25: Auburn University president Jay Gouge announces that Gene Chizik has been fired.
