AUBURN, Ala. — Luring Montravius Adams and Elijah Daniel with late pitches and beefing up his defensive line, Auburn assistant head coach Rodney Garner was undoubtedly Auburn’s MVC (most valuable coach) on Wednesday.
Garner was rewarded for the results of his efforts Friday when he was listed as one of 247Sports.com’s Top 50 recruiters in 2013.
Garner has been a recruiting coordinator continuously since January 1998, when he was with Georgia. Garner was officially hired away from the rival Bulldogs on Dec. 21, returning to his alma mater Auburn.
247Sports.com’s National Recruiter of the Year is Alabama wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator Mike Groh. Defensive coordinator Kirby Smart and outside linebackers coach Lance Thompson also represented the Crimson Tide on the list, while Georgia landed tight ends coach John Lilly.
In the national signing day aftermath, Alabama currently has 247Sports.com’s No. 1-rated class, while Auburn and Georgia are ranked 11th and 12th, respectively.
