AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn junior defensive lineman Devaunte Sigler, dismissed Friday night from the Tigers for unspecified violation of team rules, became the first Tiger to be formally punished by new head coach Gus Malzahn.
“We have high standards for our players,” Malzahn said. “They will represent the team and Auburn the right way.”
Sigler, from Mobile, Ala., played in five games last year (making two tackles), after appearing in all 13 games his freshman season. The former three-star prospect made 10 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, in 2011.
Sigler had worked at both tackle and end for Auburn’s defense. His departure leaves 14 returning scholarship linemen (eight ends, six tackles) on the Auburn roster.
